Exploring Themed Pubs in the London Off-season

After the busy winter holiday season, London offers a calmer pace to enjoy some of the city's unique pub culture. Whether it's raining, snowing, or is absurdly windy from the yearly storms, themed pubs provide fun indoor activities for visitors and locals alike. Here are some of my favorite options:

  1. The Cauldron, Dalston: Drop into the world of wizardry and potions at The Cauldron. You get to choose from a spellbook of "potions" including alcohol-free options. With a fun ambiance and fantastic staff assisting you with your magical creations, I highly recommend this experience. Booking a table costs around £15-25 per person depending on if you are drinking and if you are visiting during peak hours.

  2. Draughts, Waterloo: The board game lover's paradise, and my family's unanimously agreed upon favorite activity we did when they visited London. With a £15-35 deposit based on group size and your desired time slot (I recommend 2 hours), you and your group get a table to chose and play any game from their extensive collection. Sip ciders, beers and cocktails while battling friends and family at Monopoly, Scrabble, Clue and more. Don't forget to try their famous toffee pudding!

  3. BrewDog, Tower Bridge: Although there are several BrewDog locations throughout the UK, at BrewDog Tower Bridge you can toss back craft beers and ciders while showing off your shuffleboard skills! This pub is located conveniently next to iconic London attractions like the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, and offers free games to enjoy on rainy afternoons. Prices range from £4-8 per pint.

  4. Sixes Social Cricket, Marylebone: Cricket fans can practice their batting skills and enable their competitive spirit at Sixes Social Cricket. For only £15 per person, you can book a table with a drink while taking your turn throughout an hour-long time slot (for a group of 4, this was about 3 turns each). See who can score the most runs!

  5. Barrio, Soho: For dancing, drinks and club vibes, head to Barrio in any district of London, but I especially recommend Soho. Their £4 shots and £12 cocktails during happy hour make it easy to party on a budget, and I adore their colorful atmosphere and kicking Reggaeton playlists.

Be sure to check out some of these awesome pubs on your next visit to London, and don't let the rain scare you off from a trip after the holidays.

Best,
