My recent trip to Paros, one of Greece's stunning islands, was filled with incredible experiences, picturesque locations, and delightful culinary adventures. Here are the main highlights of my visit:
1. The Hotel: Siroco's Rooms and Studios
Siroco's Rooms and Studios quickly became my favorite accommodation of the entire trip. This charming hotel boasts a cozy, wood cabin-like feel in a beach destination setting. The bright blue pool was an inviting oasis, and the delicious breakfast made every morning special. For just 12 euros, we enjoyed an all-you-can-eat breakfast spread that included warm pastries, sausage and eggs, fresh fruits and vegetables, juices, and made-to-order espresso drinks. The outdoor breakfast nook was the perfect spot to start the day. Amazingly, this lovely stay for two nights was less expensive for our group of five than even a hostel in Athens!
2. The Airbnb Experience: Kayaking & Snorkeling
One of the most exciting activities we did was a kayaking and snorkeling adventure through Sea Kayak. This six-hour tour included a snack and lunch, snorkeling, a quick trail hike in the national park, and a journey to and through several islands in the bay. Despite the windy and overcast weather, the experience was fantastic and well worth the price. I highly recommend this activity to anyone visiting Paros.
3. Getting Around: Renting Vehicles
Transportation on the island can be challenging, especially since Uber doesn't operate there and taxis can be quite expensive, especially during peak tourist season. We found a perfect solution by renting ATVs. For just around 35 euros a day, we had the freedom to explore the island without limitations. The ATVs are road-safe and allowed us to travel comfortably to different parts of the island, making our trip even more adventurous and convenient.
4. The Food: Apollon Garden Restaurant
Our culinary highlight in Paros was undoubtedly our dinner at Apollon Garden Restaurant, located in the heart of the Parikia shopping center. The restaurant offers traditional Greek cuisine with the warmth of a home-cooked meal. I savored Grandma's Moussaka, a delicious dish that was reasonably priced and one of the best items on the menu. The host and owner were incredibly welcoming and even gifted us a bottle of wine at the end of the meal! This restaurant was probably my favorite dining experience of the trip.
Final Thoughts
Overall, Paros was my favorite island on this Greek adventure. From the cozy and affordable Siroco's Rooms and Studios to the thrilling Sea Kayak experience, the convenience of renting ATVs, and the delightful Apollon Garden Restaurant, every aspect of the trip was memorable. I highly recommend making Paros a part of your next Greek island adventure.
Best,
Hailey
